Botanic Gardens in the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration
Dear Members of the European Botanic Gardens Community,
On behalf of the Italian Botanic Society, I am pleased to inform you that the 10th EuroGard congress will be held at the Botanic Garden of Rome from the 29th of September to the 3rd of October, 2025. The venue is in the “Trastevere” district, in the historical centre of the Eternal City.

In addition to the Botanic Garden, the venue includes other sites particularly relevant for the history of botany in Rome: “Palazzo Salviati”, a beautiful 16th-century palace that housed the Botanic Garden in the 19th century; “Palazzo Corsini”, a masterpiece of 18th-century Italian architecture, currently home to the “Accademia dei Lincei”, one of the oldest European scientific institutions, founded by the botanist Federico Cesi at the beginning of the 17th century; and “Villa Farnesina”, a stunning example of Renaissance architecture adorned with frescoes by Raffaello, which depict about two hundred botanical species, both native and newly introduced from the Americas at that time.
